Illl 4.8 Customs Tariff
The Thai Customs Department carried out various activities in the area of Customs Tariff in FY 2560.
Those activities include settling/considering/completing tariff classification of the cases in disputes (986
guaranteed import declarations or 18.36% increase in achievement; 2,141 reservation declarations or 18.68 %
increase in achievement; 1,020 pre-classifications or 44.41% increase in achievement) and much more.
HS 2017
Thai Customs chaired the ASEAN Harmonised Tariff Nomenclature Task Force whose main
responsibility is to review the AHTN 2012 for the implementation of the AHTN 2017 in 2017. Also, the Thai
Customs Department disseminated the information on AHTN 2017 to stakeholders, frontline Customs
officers and the public. In addition, the Customs officers were also familiarized with searching information
from Integrated Tariff Database, which could assist them in performing their duties.
Revision of Subordinate Legislation in accordance with Customs Act B.E.2560
Customs Act B.E. 2560 is effective from 13 November 2560. Working Group on Subordinate Legislation
Implementation and Revision was established as agreed by Committee on Guiding Implementation and
Revision of Customs Tariff to ensure that the subordinate legislation is in line with Customs Act B.E.2560.
Database of Prohibited and Restricted Goods
The Customs Tariff Bureau reviewed and revised the database of prohibited and restricted goods
to ensure that the Customs Tariffs and statistics codes of the goods are in line with HS2017. This project
is aimed to facilitate/assist traders in searching such information.
